A thriller sub-genre is the different types of thrillers within the wider thriller title. They are more specific to a type of audience. Here are a list of the main thriller sub-genres and the films we have looked at referring to the sub-genre.
Crime Thrillers – 'The Dark Knight'
Action Thrillers – 'Deja Vu'
Sci-fi Thrillers – 'Inception'
Super Natural/Horror Thrillers – 'What Lies Beneath'
Psychological Thrillers – 'Momento'
The one that inspires me the most is psychological thrillers. This is because I believe that the less movement a thriller has, the more effective it is. The phonebooth for example is based on one main location where just one wrong movement can result in a horrofic situation. This builds suspense and also shows that not all thrillers have to be full of blood and chases.
